We were in Old Saybrook for what in my personal expert assures me was the lowest tide in his nearly 80-year-old memory.  (We forgot to think about tsunamis.)

It certainly makes one wonder about the alleged rise in average sea level. I haven't been going to Old Saybrook for 80 years, just 50 - however I sure don't notice the water getting any higher. Note I am not confusing higher with deeper. The cove is filling in, so it would be quite possible for the sea level to be up even if the low tides exposed more mud flats. I am thinking of the height of the water at the bridge - which is no higher now than 40 years ago.
