I needed to know which of Nancy Wallace's books about homeschooling her children this quote was from:

So often our expectations lead to disappointment and sorrow. Yet if we were absolutely detached from the world—even if we had no sorrows—that would be terrible. I'm convinced that we were born into the world in order to live in it and be attached to it, and if attachment to other people and things gives us sorrow, all that means is that happiness is not the absolutely most important thing in life.

Because I am still a 20th-century being, I picked up my copy of Child's Work, which was my first guess, and started flipping pages. I would have found it: I've a pretty good memory for books, and could picture exactly where on the page that text was. But I quickly put the book down and gave part of the quote to Google.

If I may be forgiven the grammatical error, "That's ME!" That's my own blog that Gemini is using for its primary (and apparently only?) source. Hover on any of the source links and you see a link to my review of Nancy Wallace's two books. Lest I get a swelled head about it, when used the same prompt another time I got a different response. But this was the first, and up long enough for me to get a screenshot.

And I was right:  the quote is from Child's Work.
