It seems ludicrous, with the thermometer reading a very pleasant 72 degrees, and the rest of our family enduring subzero temperatures and the prospect of up to two feet of snow, but we, too, are under a winter weather advisory. Conditions are expected to change rapidly tomorrow, bringing in the coldest temperatures of the season and the possibility of several hours of hard freeze. Where we live does not usually get the worst of what is predicted, but we'll have to keep a weather eye out. I hope we don't have to pick all the grapefruit off our tree at once!

This news is not going to make my parents too happy. They left for FL yesterday to get away from the cold weather. Hopefully they will at least finish off their stay with a little sunshine and warmth!

Not to worry. Temperatures are expected to increase all week, and even at their lowest should feel tropical compared with the weather your parents have left behind!

We brought the hanging plants inside, and turned our recycled water spigot on to trickle all night, but have left the grapefruit on the tree. The forecast isn't any better, but we usually do a bit better than the forecast, and there's also supposed to be some wind, which helps protect the fruit. I'm still more worried about the folks up north than about us. One thing Florida and the Northeast have in common: we both run Home Depot out of generators -- but in different seasons.
