We spent over four hours at church this morning and heard not one word related to the Super Bowl!  I'll bet not many in this country can make the same claim.  (Janet probably can, though.)

I didn't hear about the Super Bowl, but I didn't exactly understand everything that was said. However, I think it's a pretty safe bet that it wasn't mentioned.

That's good to know, Liz. Maybe my experience of sitting under preachers who persist in using sports analogies (and thus losing up to half their audience) is more unusual than I had feared.

i've experienced MANY preachers using sports stories in their sermons. and i'm surprised our rector didn't use any of that language yesterday since he's really into watching sports, and he's used sports analogies (or just sports-related stories) in his sermons before.

It is actually strange that we didn't hear about it either. We went to someone's house to help with their computer, and it wasn't until after I had invited ourselves for dinner that I found out the Super Bowl was on. I knew it was coming up, but I thought it was later.
