Good news: Grace is getting her central line removed! The procedure was scheduled for two weeks from now, but it's coming out as an unexpected birthday present.
Bad news: The present came wrapped in less-pleasant circumstances: one of her lines broke during the routine flush. They were able to clamp it off, but Grace and Jon are now headed to Dartmouth to get her started on antibiotics, in case the line was contaminated. They will probably do the removal procedure tomorrow.
Prayer request (from Heather's blog post): Please pray for safe travel and no infections and a successful procedure.
More complete updates are in the comments here.
Short version: After a long and very frustrating night at Dartmouth, Grace's line removal surgery is scheduled for noon. Please pray for success and no complications.
I'm thinking every hospital needs to have a Starlink Team, whose only job is facilitating communication between doctors and patients, and between medical teams and other medical teams. Like Elon Musk's Starlink systems, which provide essential communication in disaster areas.
Grace is home and doing well, though shy about having lost her central line. I doubt she even remembers life without it; it may seem a very strange loss at first.
So good to hear that all turned out well in the end. Poor baby, she has a major adjustment to make, but hopefully it's all onward and upward from now on.
