After spotting this image on Facebook, I tracked it down to (I think) the creator: "Catturd" on X, made using Grok. The caption reads,
Just spotted on I-95 headed to Florida.
As a Floridian who is grieving for the people of New York City, even the ones who voted for Mamdani, and now more than ever worried for our friend the NYC detective, I can't pass this up.
I do, however, agree with the X poster who pointed out that it would have been a much shorter trip to go to the state that has been named the #1 freest state in America. (Florida was ranked #2.) Maybe Lady Liberty is also tired of cold weather.
I’m not sure why you’re grieving a fair democratic election outcome in a city far away but I thought I’d share these words of wisdom from about eight years ago. Maybe they’ll help.
Why do I care? Why would I grieve the deaths of a few Canadian ostriches? Why do parents feel anguish when they watch a child making a mistake they know will cost him dearly? Why do we suffer when innocent people die in war, no matter how far away in space or time?
Way to remind me, however, that my prophetic skills leave much to be desired. Not to mention getting in a plug for Ron at the same time!
As I've said before, I am not Charlie Kirk. I don't stand under a "Prove Me Wrong" sign and ask for a challenge. I say what I have to say, for those who find it thought-provoking, or at least amusing, but I'm not interested in debating.
However, I want to point out that Florida is often directly impacted by events in New York, however far away it may seem. For good or for ill, New Yorkers have been moving here for longer than I've been alive—over 40 years ago we were four of them—and every crisis in that state (be it in politics or in weather) sends a fresh batch.
